Help

Drawn from my three-year immersion for the film Let the Child Be the Guide, my research, and my Montessori teacher training (AMI), this quote is an excerpt from a thematic selection I compiled to remove the primary obstacle to education: our adult prejudices. This post presents one of the themes from this collection, designed to transform, step by step, our gaze upon the child.

“The desperate complaints of the child […] when he does not want to be washed, combed, or dressed, are the explosions of a first intimate drama of human struggles. Who could suppose that this useless help offered to the child is the root of all repressions and, for that very reason, the cause of the most dangerous harm that the adult can inflict upon him.” — Maria Montessori, The Secret of Childhood
